- 대면접촉이 많은 서비스업의 생산이 큰 폭의 감소세를 지속하였으며, 취업자 수도 서비스업을 중심으로 감소폭이 확대됨.

- 다만, 제조업은 내구재 소매판매액이 높은 증가세를 유지하고 일평균 수출액도 감소에서 증가로 전환하는 등 개선 흐름을 나타냄.

○ 그러나 10월 말 이후 유럽 주요국의 봉쇄조치로 인해 대외여건이 악화되는 모습

- 최근 프랑스와 독일 등 유럽 주요국에서 코로나19 신규 확진자와 사망자 수가 빠르게 증가함에 따라 방역조치를 강화하고 경제활동을 제한하였음.

- 유럽의 봉쇄조치가 세계교역량의 급격한 위축으로 이어질 수 있다는 점에서 대외여건을 중심으로 경제의 불확실성이 크게 확대된 것으로 판단됨.

■ Despite a modest recovery in the manufacturing economy, the Korean economy shows a continued contraction, mainly in the service industry, and downside risks are high over accelerating Covid-19 in Europe.

○ The service industry slackened on infection concerns while the manufacturing industry exhibited a limited recovery owing to the improvements in domestic and foreign demand.

- Production in in-person services continued to rapidly decrease while the number of employed persons posted increased losses especially in the service industry.

- Meanwhile, the manufacturing industry exhibited improvements as durable goods retail sales sustained high growth and the average exports per workday swung to an increase.

○ However, external conditions are deteriorating due to lockdowns in major European countries since late October.

- Major European countries including France and Germany tightened quarantine measures and restricted economic activities in an attempt to tackle the surge in new daily coronavirus cases and deaths.

- The lockdown in Europe may lead to a rapid contraction in world trade volume. This implies that economic uncertainties are mounting centering around external conditions.
