Words of Invitation
¡¡

Rapid progress of globalization and informatization in the 21st century has intensified lively discussions about what are the major driving forces of economic growth and how to exploit new sources for sustainable growth. The necessity of building up legal and institutional standard is on the rise as a result. In particular, the importance of intellectual property rights such as patent, copyright and trademark rights has been highlighted towards the development of knowledge-driven economy.

This conference aims at strengthening policy studies through international research collaboration. We would like to improve the level of discussion on policy issues with empirical analysis and draw valuable lessons from global country cases of the economic effects of intellectual property policies on economic development.

In this context, Korea Development Institute (KDI) intends to enhance knowledge sharing and contribute to developing global research network on intellectual property with policy makers, academia, and international organizations across the world.

Recognizing that the intellectual property is of great significance to promoting economic development, KDI is holding an international conference with renowned foreign and domestic experts and officials in relevant fields. I hope that this conference will provide the venue to openly address, hear wide range of recommendations, and discuss challenges ahead.

In this spirit, I cordially invite you to join us in this timely event, and look forward to your invaluable contribution. I assure you that many discussions outlined for our meeting will be both fulfilling and rewarding experiences. Thank you.
