KDI-RPC Joint Workshop on Closing the Regulatory Cycle

February 18, 2019(Mon) ~ February 19, 2019(Tue)

  • Venue Lilac Room, The Westin Chosun Hotel, Seoul, Republic of Korea
  • Hosts Korea Development Institute (KDI), Regulatory Policy Committee (RPC)
Greetings
We are pleased to invite you to the KDI-RPC Joint Workshop on Closing the Regulatory Cycle - assessing and scrutinising regulatory impacts in the UK and Korea, a workshop that is organised jointly by Korea Development Institute (KDI) and Regulatory Policy Committee (RPC).

RPC, set up in 2009 is an independent regulatory scrutiny body in United Kingdom, who rates the quality of evidence and analysis of new regulatory and deregulatory proposals and their claimed economic and social impacts. Korea’s regulatory reform framework has been actively promoted first, with an enactment of the Framework Act on Administrative Regulations and second, by the establishment of Regulatory Reform Committee and introduction of regulatory impact assessment policy. More recently, Korean Government has made more attempts to improve the quality of regulations. Independent bodies such as KDI and KIPA (Korea Institute of Public Administration) have been appointed to conduct reviews on regulatory proposals to improve the quality of regulatory scrutiny, and a number of policy tools such as Cost-in, Cost-out and Regulatory Reform Sinmungo has been introduced.

This workshop will be an opportunity for Korea and UK to exchange expertise and best practice on Regulatory Reform Policies (UK: Better Regulation), and will also discuss the future directions of regulatory policies amid rapidly changing socioeconomic environment. With innovation-friendly regulation marking the top priority for both Korea and UK governments, we hope this workshop to serve as a platform for both countries to engage deeply for more future-oriented and innovative ideas on regulatory reforms. In this spirit, we cordially invite you to join us at this meaningful joint workshop on 18th and 19th of February 2019. We look forward to your participation.
