2024 Korea-Africa Summit KDI GKEDC Technical Tour and Meeting
with the Presidents of Tanzania, Botswana, and Zambia's Foreign Minister
For 2024 Korea-Africa Summit KDI GKEDC Technical Tour, Dr. Dong Soo Kang, Executive Director of KDI GKEDC provided a docent tour on economic development history of South Korea for President Samia Suluhu Hassan of Tanzania, President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi of Botswana, and Foreign Minister Mulambo Hamakuni Haimbe of Zambia and had a meeting to discuss opportunities for cooperation.
On June 1st and June 5th, Tanzanian President Samia Suluhu Hassan and Zambian Foreign Minister Mulambo Hamakuni Haimbe toured the Korean Economic Development Exhibition Hall of KDI GKEDC. The Tanzanian and Zambian delegations expressed deep admiration for Korea's economic development model and technological advancement and conveyed their gratitude to KDI GKEDC for organizing the visit.
On June 6th, Botswana President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi visited KDI GKEDC. After the exhibition tour on South Korea’s economic development, President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi expressed admiration for Korea's corporate innovation and industrial development, particularly noting the 'indomitable spirit' of the Korean people, their resilience in the face of challenges, and their significant investment in education, which has been one of the drivers of the country's remarkable growth even in times of crisis.
President Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi of Botswana held a meeting with Dr. Dong Soo Kang, Executive Director of KDI GKEDC, to explore cooperation opportunities. Recognizing that Botswana is in the process of establishing a national research fund and advancing R&D efforts, with this visit as an opportunity, he proposed exchanging innovative ideas and enhancing cooperation through KDI GKEDC.
Dr. Dong Soo Kang, Executive Director of KDI GKEDC, remarked that South Korea’s successful human capital development has contributed to its economic development. He hopes that future idea exchanges through the KDI GKEDC contribute to Botswana and strengthen bilateral cooperation.
