2025 KDI GKEDC Capacity-Building Program:
Enhancing Sustainable Urban Mobility in Cambodia

- Organizer: KDI
- Date: September 17, 2025 (Tue)~ 22 (Mon)
- Venue: Seoul, Goyang, Jeju

The KDI Global Knowledge Exchange & Development Center (GKEDC) successfully hosted the 「2025 KDI GKEDC Capacity-Building Program: Enhancing Sustainable Urban Mobility in Cambodia」 from September 17 to 22, 2025. The program was organized in response to a request from the Government of the Kingdom of Cambodia to support the introduction of electric buses and Intelligent Transport Systems (ITS) in Siem Reap, and to strengthen the country’s capacity for implementing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) projects in the urban transport sector.

A total of 21 officials from key Cambodian government institutions, including the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF), the Ministry of Public Works and Transport (MPWT), and the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, took part in the program. The delegation was led by the Secretary of State of the MEF, who attended the full program and guided the participants throughout their stay in Korea.

During the program, participants deepened their understanding of Korea’s policy experience through lectures and discussions on PPP frameworks, electric bus deployment, and ITS operation. They also took part in various field visits to observe real-world applications of these systems. The delegation visited major institutions such as the Seoul Transport Operation & Information Service (TOPIS), Tmoney, Hyundai Motorstudio Goyang, the Jeju Special Self-Governing Province Office, and the Hamdeok Hydrogen Charging Station, where they experienced firsthand Korea’s advanced transportation technologies and eco-friendly mobility policies.

Through this capacity-building program, the KDI GKEDC provided a meaningful platform for sharing Korea’s successful urban transport and e-mobility policies, while further strengthening the foundation for practical knowledge cooperation between Korea and Cambodia.
