The center collects and analyzes economic related data and information. It publishes a variety of periodicals that assess the Korean economy and impact of economic policies. The center also conducts public surveys on the effect of policies and develops customized economic education curriculum and programs.
The center conducts preliminary and ex-post evaluations of public and private investments in social infrastructure. It also established guidelines for the analysis and evaluation of policies based on rigorous research.
* Feasibility studies include both preliminary assessment and reassessment, which cover topics such as evaluation of public institutions and tax policies.
Drawing on local knowledge and global expertise, the center leads Korea’s efforts to promote international development cooperation. It shares Korea’s development know-how by delivering policy consultations and capacity building using its international network of leading organizations, scholars and practitioners, in line with the social and economic needs of developing countries and global development agenda.
The department offers macroeconomic policy direction based on in-depth research on the structure and management of the Korean economy. It also analyzes issues and recommends policies in international trade and finance.
The department was established to rethink and identify new policies and approaches in industry, labor, and finance that will help the Korean economy succeed in the 21st century.

The office monitors trends and conditions of the North Korean economy and recommends policies in promoting greater inter-Korean cooperation and laying the foundations for economic unification.
The center conducts theoretical and empirical research to improve the quality of regulations and practices. It strengthens the implementation of regulatory impact analysis by establishing a rigorous framework and streamlined verification processes, all of which contribute greatly to enhancing the regulatory environment.
