Agriculture is the most important single industry in Korean
economy. However a quantitative analysis of long-term output
and productivity growth for Korean agriculture is not available.
Nor is it possible to compare the performance of agriculture in
the Republic of Korean during the period since World War Ⅱ
with the performance during the period of Japanese colonialism.
Neither is it possible to make objective statements about the
effectiveness of technological changes during the two periods.
The main purposes of this stud are 1) To measure long-run
growth in agricultural output, inputs and productivities, 2) To
identify the relative contribution of inputs and productivity to
output growth and, 3) To examine factors attributable to the
growth in productivities of primary factor of production, land and
