Working Paper
The Dilemma of Democratic Politics and Economic Development in Korea
요약
This paper attempts to examine some highlights of the
interrelationship between politics and economics in South Korea
in the republican era since 1948. The study will focus on the
main characteristics of political evolutions since the First
Republic and of the unprecedented economic growth from the
mid-1960s to examine how politics and economics interacted in
South Korea.
This is an attempt at a inter-disciplinary look at interrelated
political-economic developments in Korea. This will be a largely
empirical study in as much as political and economic data and
evidence, not preconceived ideas, will guide the examination. The
paper will be in part theoretical to the extent that such concepts
as "democratic Politics" and "economic development" or "equity"
are theoretical.
