The global economy is currently undergoing a new phase of structural transformation amid rising geopolitical tensions and shifts in the policy environment. As fragmentation in trade and financial flows intensifies, the global economic order and the framework for international cooperation are being reshaped. These developments are having far-reaching impacts across a wide range of areas—including industrial policy, supply chain reconfiguration, and digital economy regulation—while presenting both new challenges and opportunities for governments and firms alike.

In response to these important trends, the KDI Journal of Economic Policy (KDI JEP) and the Korea Development Institute (KDI) are organizing a conference titled “Navigating Geoeconomic Fragmentation: Global Rules, Industrial Policy, and the New Architecture of Cross-border Trade and Finance,” bringing together leading academic and policy experts from Korea and abroad.

This conference will provide a platform for in-depth discussions on the implications of rising geoeconomic fragmentation for trade, investment, and financial flows.
