On September 8, the KDI Global Knowledge Exchange and Development Center(GKEDC) welcomed Dr Sidi Ould Tah, President of the African Development Bank Group (AfDB), and his delegation during his visit to Korea for the 8th Korea-Africa Economic Cooperation (KOAFEC) Ministerial Conference.
The visit began with a discussion on opportunities to deepen knowledge cooperation between Korea and Africa. President Ould Tah highlighted Korea’s distinctive development experience and expressed interest in expanding knowledge exchange in areas of particular importance to Africa, including AI and digital transformation, agriculture, food security, health, education, youth employment, and jobs of the future. The discussion also touched on concrete development priorities, including improving rice productivity in Côte d’Ivoire.

GKEDC shared its experience in delivering capacity-building and knowledge-exchange programmes in these areas and expressed its interest in further strengthening cooperation with the AfDB. Both sides also discussed opportunities to build on the close cooperation with the AfDB’s Asia External Representation Office and to pursue practical knowledge-sharing initiatives addressing Africa’s development priorities.

Following the discussion, President Ould Tah and the delegation toured GKEDC’s Economic·Industrial Development Hall and Future Innovation Hall, exploring Korea’s economic and social transformation and the policy experiences that shaped its development journey.
The visit provided a valuable opportunity to explore further collaboration between GKEDC and AfDB through continued knowledge exchange and partnership.
