[Word of Invitation]

Regulation reforms in major service sectors such as finance, communications/broadcasting, energy, and professional services, are the most pending issues of the Korean economy today. This is because the improvement in service sector competitiveness is a vital key for Korea to regain its growth engine. Hence, the regulation reform in these sectors is one of the most significant tools that will push Korea to the next level of economic growth.

Effectively reforming supervisory structure in the major service sectors is one of the most critical challenges faced by regulatory reform. With enhanced problem awareness and in an attempt to meet the social demand regarding the issues, the Korea Development Institute is holding an international conference to seek for desirable supervisory structure for Korea''s service sectors. Leading experts from advanced nations, considered most successful in this area, will be sharing their experiences and case studies on dealing with such problems that arose during the establishment of regulatory reform in their countries. The conference aims to draw lessons from the experiences of advanced countries in preparing Korea to find the best method in resolving related issues.

It is hoped that discussing the experiences of advanced nations on the reform of supervisory structure in the service sectors will serve as a meaningful stepping stone for Korea to set an appropriate policy direction for the future.

I cordially invite you to join us in this timely event, and look forward to your invaluable contribution.
