2022년에도 북한은 긴장 조성 행위를 이어가고 있고, 미중갈등 고조 및 최근의 우크라이나 사태에서 보듯이 한반도 주변 환경 역시 복잡하다. 이번 북한경제협의회는 2022년의 남북관계를 전망하는 한편, 차기 한국정부가 주목해야 할 측면 등을 논의했다. “동향과 분석”은 2022년 남북관계의 방향을 북미간 전략경합에 따른 북미관계의 변동을 중심으로 전망하고, 향후 참고할 만한 전략적 고려사항을 제시한다. 또한 2021년 남북 군사관계의 특징과 추세 평가를 기초로 2022년 이후 북한의 군사전략을 전망하면서, 향후 대내외 정세변화에 따라 북한이 취할 가능성이 있는 전략에 주목하여 한국의 정교한 대응의 중요성을 지적한다.

In 2022, North Korea continues to strain tensions on the peninsula, and as seen from the intensifying US-China conflict and the recent crisis in Ukraine, the geopolitical situation surrounding the two Koreas has become increasingly complicated. The North Korean Economic Research Forum projected the future course of inter-Korean relations in 2022 and discussed essential aspects that the next Korean government should pay attention to. ‘Trends and Analysis’ analyzed the future direction of inter-Korean relations in 2022 with its focus on the changes in US-North Korea relations arising from strategic competition between the two, and provides strategic considerations for the next government to refer to. In addition, while forecasting North Korea's military strategy after 2022 based on the evaluation of the characteristics and trends of South-North military relations in 2021, it emphasizes the importance of South Korea's sophisticated response while predicting potential military strategies and actions North Korea might take in response to changing internal and external circumstances in the future.
