As its first theme,focuses on ‘North Korean Statistics and North Korean Economy Studies,’ one of the most mysterious and intriguing topics in the studies of the North Korean economy from the outside perspective. When it comes to the studies on the North Korean economy, people often ask. How are such researches conducted by the outside world? Are North Korea’s own statistics reliable? What are the statistics on the North Korean economy released by South Korea and other organizations around the world? Still, so many questions are left answered, and it made KDI's Office of the North Korean Economic Studies to talk about questions about North Korea's statistics and what it means to its studies on the occasion of the launch of the new series, .
The author of 'North Korea's Technical Response to Covid-19' examined the North Korean authority’s efforts to overcome the disease, using its official reports and internal data compiled by the Emergency Anti-epidemic Headquarters. This analysis examines North Korean authorities' understanding of the disease, its health authorities' preemptive measures to block the influx of the virus, and the current status of infected people in North Korea. This article also reviews technical responses to block the spread, such as quarantine measures, production of quarantine supplies, development of preventive drugs, and patient treatments, and then it attempts to predict North Korea’s future response to the disease.
