This article sketches what has been happening to the
Korean economy for the last several years in Section 2, and
Section 3 introduces the popular hypothesis on the causes of the
Korean crisis that the structural policies of the IMF and the
Korean government were based on. Section 4 briefly explains the
structural policies, and Section 5 discusses the macro policy
positions that have been dramatically changed since the crisis.
Section 6 concludes the article with some comments on the
required future reforms as well as the prospect of the Korean
economy.
