This report studies the possible transition process of the DPRK economy to a market economy in terms of Korean unification and North-South Korean economic integration. To do this we review the models and concepts of economic transition that have been developed mostly from the experiences of former Eastern European and Asian socialist economies. The possible transition process of the DPRK economy is discussed on the basis of those models and concepts. Also, we establish ‘the most comprehensive scenario of Korean unification’, transforming it into an imaginary policy environment the ROK economic policy makers will face during the unification process. Then, we carry out a policy game to produce appropriate policy measures to transform the DPRK economy into a market economy and integrate it into the ROK economy. Those policy measures are presented as the final conclusions of this report.
