With support from Ministry of Economy and Finance (MOEF), Korea Development Institute (KDI), the World Bank Group (WBG), and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are organizing this year’s Asia PPP Practitioners’ Network (APN) Conference on the topic of “Searching for a balance between private and public in PPPs.”

The APN, which started in 2010 as a five-day working level training that brought together practitioners from PPP units from across Asia and the Pacific, has been well recognized as a platform gathering knowledge and trends in PPP development in the region. Serving as a global PPP network, its primary objectives are:

  • ㆍ To provide fundamental knowledge and essential skills for PPP units and government officials in the Asia-Pacific region;
  • ㆍTo share knowledge and experience of countries in PPP development and discuss policy issues for the promotion of infrastructure investment;
  • ㆍTo explore recent trends and analyze crucial issues in PPP models; and
  • ㆍTo facilitate regional networking and collaboration in the exchange of knowledge and information on PPPs.

Maintaining the original purpose and spirit, recent APN conferences have been an international arena convening heads of PPP units from Asian countries, invited to share important trends and issues in the world PPP market together with experts from the countries with an advanced PPP system, academia and international organizations.

Against this backdrop, this year’s APN is expected to convene heads of PPP units and senior-level PPP officials for sharing trends and issues in the region. In particular, this year’s main APN conference will be followed by a back-to-back event, which will be co-organized by World Bank and KDI School for Public Policy and will provide an in-depth course on a better implementation of Unsolicited Proposals (USP) on PPP. After concluding the class sessions, there will be site visits to provide insights on case studies by visiting some of the projects that are now operational in Korea.
