○ 그러나 소비심리가 급격히 악화되고 주요국의 경기가 둔화되면서 제조업을 중심으로 경기 하방요인이 확대되고 있음.

- 높은 물가상승세가 이어지며 소비심리가 위축됨에 따라 7월 소비자심리지수가 낮은 수준으로 하락하면서 향후 소비 회복이 제약될 가능성을 시사

- 중국경제의 성장세가 크게 둔화되고 미국경제도 역성장을 지속하며 대외여건이 악화된 가운데, 금리상승이 경제에 점진적으로 파급됨에 따라 경기 하방압력이 가중됨.

■ The Korean economy continues to improve with a reduced contraction in the manufacturing industry, but downside risks are building up on high inflation and worsening external conditions.

○ Manufacturing production exhibited a partially lesser contraction led by huge gains in semiconductors and automobiles.

- Employment stays strong with continued improvements in services and larger gains in the number of employed persons in manufacturing.

- However, amid a deep loss in manufacturing shipments triggered by temporary disruptions in logistics, retail sales maintained a weak performance on the back of persistently high inflation.

○ However, coupled with a rapid deterioration in consumer sentiment and deepening economic slowdown in major countries, downside risks are expanding especially in the manufacturing industry.

- Influenced by accelerating inflation and ensuing spending squeeze, July’s CCSI slipped to a low level, suggesting the possibility of a limited recovery in consumption.

- External conditions have deteriorated as China’s economic growth slowed significantly and the US economy is shrinking in a row, and the gradual spillover effect of rate hikes is weighing heavily on overall economic activity.
