The East Asia Railway Community Initiative which was proposed by President Moon Jae-in of Korea aims to create a multinational cooperative organization. Through this organization, Northeast Asian countries (South Korea, North Korea, China, Russia, Mongolia and Japan) and the United States will work together, investing in infrastructure and implementing projects regarding the railways, in order to lay the foundation for peace and shared prosperity in East Asia. The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, the Korea Rail Network Authority, and the Korea Development Institute (KDI) have created a team of experts in economy, transportation, foreign affairs, and related areas and have implemented research projects on the establishment of the EARC.

At this seminar, we’d like to share the detailed plan and implementation methods of the EARC’s establishment with government representatives and experts from relevant invited countries and exchange valued opinions. We believe discussions at the seminar will contribute to laying the cornerstone for shared prosperity and a multilateral peace regime in Northeast Asia.
